What You Can Learn From Ayurveda and Yoga
Ayurveda or the “science of life” is a holistic system of preventive medicine and health care developed in India over 5000 years ago. This “mother of all medicine” deals with every aspect of health; physical health, mental and emotional balance, spiritual well-being, environmental considerations, diet and lifestyle habits, daily routines, seasonal routines and the management of specific diseases and ailments. Through Ayurveda, we practice respect for all of nature and understand our intimate connection to all forms of life. The main focus of Ayurveda is balance. It is based on balancing the five elements of nature – ether, air, fire, water, and earth, which are present in the human body as doshas.
Ayurveda can help you understand why you react to people, situations, and circumstances in the way that you do, helping you to cope with these situations and the stress of living in our modern world. Ayurveda can teach you which foods are best for you and which foods cause imbalance, what types of activities that you are best suited for and how seasonal changes affect your bodymind. When illness or imbalance manifests our first line of defense is “kitchen medicine, “ eating a diet that is in harmony with our particular nature made up of locally grown, preferably organic, fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes. However, if stronger medication is needed, we turn to herbs, this is healing in harmony with nature. An Ayurvedic practitioner is a guide for you, a partner in helping you to achieve optimum health with respect to your individual needs without judgment.
Ayurvedic Nutrition and Lifestyle Intake Session -$175 (2 visits)
The Ayurvedic Assessment includes two visits – an initial consultation and then a comprehensive report of findings with an Ayurvedic individualized plan of nutrition and lifestyle suggestions. In your consultation, we identify nutrition or lifestyle imbalances that are disrupting your vitality. Follow-Up Session ($75)
Can include nutrition or herbal recommendation, private yoga session, private meditation session, intuitive guidance session, or coaching session.
Following an Assessment or Thrive Package if you wish continued care, you may sign-up for individual follow-up consultations, buy a package of visits, or join the mentorship program. These sessions are 30-50 minutes in length.

Trailhead Thrive Package ($500.00)
The Trailhead Thrive Package includes the Ayurvedic Nutrition and Lifestyle Assessment and three additional follow-up visits to ensure that you are finding success with your health and wellness goals. New practices may be added to assist you. Plan 60 min for each follow-up visit. During these visits, we will check-in with your progress, continue your education and implement your wellness program. We will make changes or additions to the program that are necessary to help you reach your desired goals. Five visits and personalized tools and techniques in yoga, meditation, or guidance.

This deep immersion into the Self is a 3-month journey of intense study, practice, and focus. This 3-month long immersion includes the ancient tools of Ayurveda, yoga, meditation, mantra, spirituality, journaling, aromatherapy, energy work, tantra, and other alternative wellness methods to circle through the physical, energetic, mental/emotional and intuitive bodies.

Justina Schacht, MA, is an intuitive healer, Ayurvedic guide, holistic counselor, yoga teacher and trainer, spiritual counselor, writing guide, and founder of Trailhead Healing Arts Center. She combines many modalities and tools for healing to create specific programs, goals, and plans for her clients. As a teacher, she has taught Yoga and Ayurveda classes, Yoga teacher training, workshops, and immersions.
She is passionate about inspiring people to use the tools of Yoga and Ayurveda to manifest transformation and abundance in their lives and to bring light and healing to those who are suffering. Through these tools, she has transformed her own trauma and PTSD to a depth of wisdom and fulfillment.
Justina is a 500 ERYT (experienced registered Yoga teacher) and continues to study and practice Yoga through the Himalayan tradition. She has been leading Yoga teacher training at Trailhead Healing Arts Center for over 10 years. She is an Ayurvedic practitioner and guide, continuing to study with various teachers.

“I am 53 years old and have had psoriasis since my mid twenty’s. There were times throughout my life that psoriasis seemed to completely subside, however, since my mid-forties it has been getting worse no matter what I’ve done. It was originally just on my knees and elbows but increased in size to where it was all the way down my arm to my wrists, on my scalp, on my right ear and then I noticed a spot above my left eye… I tried everything I could think of to help it heal… gave up alcohol, ate what I thought was really healthy food, used the creams that my dermatologist prescribed… took enzymes to help my body better digest food, took vitamin D supplement — daily, tried to get in the sun daily, soaked in Epsom salt and rubbed the plaque off my body — EVERY night… some things I tried would make a visible improvement and then psoriasis would seem to come back with a vengeance. Nothing I tried had lasting results.”
“Early in 2014, I attended an Ayurveda class as part of the Yoga Teacher Training Program. In addition to the class, I chose to get a personal Ayurveda consult with Justina. The private consult led me to establish a routine which included a nurturing daily oil massage and change my diet to contain only foods that were cooked, (no raw fruit or vegetables.) I also chose to minimize consumption of animal protein in my diet but I did not eliminate it. This was quite a change for me but I was determined to give it a shot. After all, I figured I had nothing to lose. Within a few weeks, I saw enough improvement to be encouraged… But I was cautious as in the past progress was short lived.
